How do you know if I’m the right coach for you?

Honestly?

You probably won’t know whether I’m the right coach for you from a list of qualifications or polished marketing copy. More often, people know from that very first conversation — whether they feel understood, whether the way I work resonates with them, and whether they feel comfortable talking openly with me.

If you’d like to know a little more about me, here it is.

I’m Julia Burkin, an award-winning life and relationship coach based in Lincolnshire.

I work in a calm, honest and grounded way. No fluff. No judgement. No pretending life is simple when it isn’t.

Before becoming a coach, I worked in senior leadership roles across construction, housing management and community engagement. Over the years, I’ve helped people navigate difficult situations, high emotions and the pressures that come with real life.

I also understand life’s challenges personally, not just professionally.

I left home at a young age, rebuilt my life more than once, and eventually found a very different kind of relationship and partnership with my husband, Steve. Between us, we understand many of the things people quietly bring into coaching sessions — stress, grief, change, family pressures, and the challenge of working out who you are after life takes an unexpected turn.

Family matters deeply to me. I’m a wife, a mum of four, and a proud grandmother to six grandchildren. I also share my home with two dogs and enjoy spending time in our caravan whenever I can. I live in a small village just outside Grantham.

I genuinely believe that our environment affects how safe we feel to open up. That’s why I aim to create a space where you can speak honestly, feel heard, and explore what matters most to you without fear of judgement.

That belief is part of why I created Kingfisher Cottage — a calm, private coaching space by the river where people can breathe, think and talk properly without feeling rushed or overlooked.

Coaching is not about having all the answers. It's about helping you find your own.

My coaching ethos

You are the expert of your life.

I'm here to help you tune in to your own wisdom.

You are seen, heard and understood.

No judgement. No fixing. Just space to be real.

Change happens when you feel safe enough
to explore what really matters.

That's where clarity and confidence grow.

Small, honest steps lead to lasting change.

We focus on what feels right for you, not anyone else.

Why I created Kingfisher Cottage

I've sat in too many poky rooms in noisy buildings.

I’ve been coached in places where the walls were thin, the space was cramped, and I could hear everything – including a loo next door that kept flushing. It pulled me out of the moment. It broke the spell.

I dreamed of somewhere different. A calm, private space by the river. Somewhere you can think without interruption. Breathe properly. Talk honestly. And leave feeling lighter, clearer and more like yourself.

That dream became Kingfisher Cottage.

A place for transformation. A place to breathe. A place to come back to you.

Coaching with me is calm, honest and human.

And if reading this feels like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, I’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need to have
it all figured out.
